if you self employed, how are you getting a company match? i'm sure everyone will tell you the match is 'free' money, so you always contribute to the level of the match, that is, unless, like me, you have a reasonable chance of not getting vested, mine is 'the cliff' type 100% vested after 1000 hour...

so, would this statement be accurate: holding individual TIPS is no different, from holding TIPS mutual funds, because the individual TIPS YTM will be affected by the overall treasury bond market yields. And when using a "shifting strategy" one is use YTM as the yield of choice for "larry's spread" ...

you could wall off 10% and call it "mad money" ; but it's rather pointless to ask "is this a good bet or is this". I think you need to develop your question a bit more. Why not read the basics like William Bernstein's book and until you know what your doing, keep 1/2 the money out of the stock marke...

Where it might be material is if you are subject to IRMAA on your Medicare Parts B and D premiums. $10 of income can cost close to $800 in Medicare premiums if properly placed to push you over one of the break points. interesting, but not 65 quite yet consensus, seems to be, don't bother, thanks much
