Others have given good advice. Don't cancel, stay flexible in terms of scheduling activities around the Durgango area. Sadly, fires are typical in the summer but the majority of the state is hospitable to visitors/not experiencing fires, so have a fun vacation!

I have non-negotiable goals for contributions to my retirement accounts (>30% of net income) and track monthly expenses in Excel. I don't set a monthly budget because I achieve my retirement account goals/pay my retirement accounts first. I am fairly frugal so this approach has worked well for me.

Thank you for all of your feedback. I put more than 20% down and called PenFed today and they said they would adjust the escrow in March (sigh.) At that time, I will switch to self pay rather than having taxes as part of my mortgage payment.
