Any suggestions for some good fixed annuities that I can look into? You really need to be cautious, since the horrible "Equity Indexed Annuities" got such a bad reputation that they changed their name to "Fixed". IMO, they should be avoided at all costs (pun intended, because they're really costly)...

I will echo what others are saying in that it depends on your goals and what you’re comparing them to. I wish I was around for the 3+% real returns. Many of the Bogleheads (including me) backed up the truck and loaded up on the old 3.0, 3.3, 3.4 and 3.6% fixed rate I Bonds and are now sitting fat, dumb and happy with nice returns on a risk-free investment. But those were the good old days that we may never see again.

I think the only option would be to make a 529 contribution if there is a state tax deduction.
