I just talked to Vanguard. I bought this bond in 2010, so it's non-covered. Vanguard will not submit the cost basis to the IRS.

I wasn't aware of the covered vs non-covered. All transactions before 2011 are non-covered.

This is an individual bond I bought through Vanguard. I was surprised of the discrepancies because Vanguards buy history shows correct amount.

I just received 1099-B forms from Vanguard and found that cost basis for a muni bond was wrong. I send an email to my representative.

My neighbor told me that his broker at Morgan Stanley invest in preferred bonds. I never heard of preferred bonds, but he told me that it's
a bond with higher yield and usually with 5 years maturity.

Is there are such things as preferred bonds?

My dad is retiring and I told him to setup an HSA account, because he has a high deductible health care insurance. He is asking what are the benefits for retired people, who don't have earned income.

but I overlooked the small print NAV as of Oct 6, 2010. Very misleading.

I was planning to rebalance my portfolio and buy additional shares of Vanguard small value cap VBR, but the premium is very high.
When I purchased shares of VBR last year, the difference between NAV and the trade price was negligible.

Does same problems exist for mutual funds?
