This is not specific to Subaru, but pertains to all AWD vehicles. At 7 years old, like others have said, I would recommend replacing all four due to age. That being said, and not specifically related to your post ... on AWD vehicles if a single tire needs to be replaced (probably due to road damage)...

Most states have a agency called 'Adult Protective Services' or something similar ... look it up online for your state. You can normally anonomously leave a report of elder abuse type concerns, fraud is normally one of them and the state agency will investigate.
