Re: The Rolex and The Boglehead

I've worn my Rolex for over forty years. I view it as functional jewelry. I write with a fountain pen. Sure, I could use a cheaper pen, but I enjoy the fountain pen. Today, younger folks use electronic communications only. Perhaps they see me as old fashioned. But my stuff still works when the inter...

Sell 2015 Subaru or Keep?

Bogleheads buy quality products, at a reasonable price, take excellent care of them for its life, drive them until the wheels come off and move on. Don't skimp on maintenance, nor ignore problems, just don't keep up with the mass advertised hyped of wanting new every year. It's a very simple matter ...

Nothing surprised me in the 2016 tax filing. Somethings disappointed me in the unnecessarily complicated tax formulas. If taxes were enormously simplified taxes would automatically become easier and fairer.

I held LMVTX from the mid-80s to the mid-90s. The fund in those days had a very high expense ratio, and an egregious 12b-1 fee. I dumped it because it was a mediocre performer (just as it was beginning its well-publicized run). I judged its returns out of line with cost of ownership at the time.
