Assume the following: A. I have made my RMD to a charity for 2019 B. I want to make additional charitable contributions in 2019 C. Forget about the consequences for my heirs. I can donate by: (1) gifting shares from my non-retirement account or (2) sending money from IRA. What are the advantages and...

Re: Vanguard ETF to Fidelity ETF

I sold the retirement Vanguard funds and put those in a money market account to make the transfer easier; I'm referring to non-retirement Vanguard ETFs that were transferred intact to Fidelity. I know I can keep the Vanguard ETFs at Fidelity; I was simply wondering for bookkeeping simplicity if it w...

Thanks to various people on this blog, my money is now on the way to Fidelity. In my NON-RETIREMENT ACCOUNT I have Vanguard ETFs. Would it be taxable event, if I transferred them to the equivalent Fidelity ETFs?

Vanguard does NOT want you out, but they will insist on proper procedure. They do want we out and please don't say that I lied. They want me out because I didn't put up with incompetence and didn't compliment their employees for being idiots. For instance, I ask for a check to be made payable to Smi...

Re: [Retirement accounts locked by Vanguard, unable to convert Admiral funds to ETF]

That's a great idea if you live in the ideal world. In the world I live in, I have to communicate with Vanguard. For instance, if I didn't change my mutual funds at Vanguard from admiral to etfs, Vanguard would have automatically converted then to regular shares before shipping them to fidelity. So ...
