Re: How far or how long walking pAr day age 70
Past 70. Walk four miles per day and sometimes more at a decent clip. I live right across the street from the beach, so that's where I do most of my walking. And when I'm in a store, I walk up and down the aisles to get some extra steps in. One day, while waking on the beach, I passed a lady and she asked me why I was walking so fast. I told her the grim reaper was behind me but now he's behind you. She actually turned around and looked. :) That's funny, Mel :) I'm past 70 too. I started walking to work and back years ago, roughly 2+ miles and 35 minutes each way. I worked afternoons and would return home at midnight. That was when I got in the habit of walking backwards. I remember spinning around just to be sure no one was coming up behi...

Bogleheads: Memorial Day was established in 1868 to honor Civil War soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice to preserve the Union and give us the freedoms we cherish. Since that date, over 1,000,000 servicemen and women have died in this nation's wars. Please remember the brave men and women who gave us their lives so that you and I can live in a free and prosperous society. A Memorial Day Tribute Best wishes. Thank you, Taylor, not only for your service, but for again reminding us of all the men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice in all the wars our great country has been involved in. As you know, my father fought at the Battle of the Bulge, 101st Airborne "Screaming Eagle", like yourself. He also made it back or I would not be here. I will always remember when he first saw the WWII Memorial in Washington. He looked back at me and with tears in his eyes said he wished all those who never made it back could have seen the Memorial. I called him a while ago and we had a nice conversation. He is doing well for 92 years of age and I am grateful for that and grateful for the wonderful country that we call home! I always enjoy watching...

I never let Vanguard stop me from doing what I would like to do and you shouldn't either. Here is the Vanguard refrain (sung to the tune of Pink Floyd's "Mother"): Hush now, baby, baby, don't you cry Vanguard's gonna make all of your nightmares come true Vanguard's gonna put all of her fears into you Vanguard's gonna keep you right here under her wing She won't let you fly but she might let you sing Vanguard's gonna keep baby cozy and warm LOL livesoft. Seems like Jack would get a chuckle too! Good old simple (other than the 5/8 and 9/8 time signatures and 3-4 pretty back-up singers) song and I'm strumming it on my Martin! Thanks for all your help with TLH. I just switched from average cost to Spec ID in my taxable and hoping to ...

Re: Vanguard Partnering with Yodlee
I was able to add TSP but not Treasury Direct. Of all institutions, I would think TD would be available. I contacted my Flagship rep and he asked me to send him the login URL for TD. He also asked me to call him this week and he'll put a member of Vanguard's web support team on the line to help in adding my Treasury Direct account. The 3rd party cookies issue fails to give me a warm, cushy feeling. I wonder why such a company as Yodlee would require this?gasman wrote:Can't seem to add treasury direct accounts. 53 cents and unlimited refills. Glad to have McDonald's. They're the "big dogs" and easy to pick on and ridicule but I think most of us would miss them if they were gone. And yes, since sometime in the nineties they improved their coffee and, IMHO, it's as good as any!

Been doing a lot of walking for a lot of years and have worn out a lot of walking and running shoes. New Balance wins with me too. I would add that you may want to consider running shoes even though you walk. I walk fast and prefer NB running shoes although I currently have one pair of walkers that I love. I rotate between at least three pair, it gives them a chance to air dry.

Morality aside, tipping 20% pre-tax, post-discount for decent service is now the societal norm. We should either accept it, or not eat out at restaurants requiring table service. This is not because tipping is a good idea or a bad idea (I personally think it's a bad idea), but because that's how the system works.
