Mutual funds are nice for setting and forgetting, but not all mutual funds can be traded at all brokerages, and I might want to switch brokerages some day without incurring capital gains taxes, so I use ETFs.

I've only used registered mail when sending something expensive. Registered mail provides a "chain of custody" (in legal speak) for each leg of the journey as well as insurance. So it significantly decreases the (already low) odds of the item being stolen and not recovered.

I sold a car to CarMax once with the check engine light on. It needed a new oxygen sensor. The price they quoted me was still higher than the trade-in value from the dealer. By my estimate, they just docked me the approximate cost to replace the sensor.

No way for black tie. Technically, the shoes should be black patent leather if you are wearing a tux ("black tie" means tux, not just a black suit with a black tie). But most people wear regular black dress shoes these days.

FYI the revamped Chrome app makes single handed web browsing even easier by putting all of the controls on the bottom half of the screen. Safari does a pretty good job of this, but fails with the refresh button and search bar.

The Fidelity Cash Management Account really does have free everything, including wires (unlike Schwab). For the times you need a physical branch, just keep a small account at a local bank/credit union that doesn't charge fees and link that account to your online account.
