Taxation of CD interest

It is my understanding that interest is taxed in the year incurred for CD's. Let's say I bought a 1 year CD this June with a 6 month EWP. If I needed to cash the CD next Jan, all interest would be taken back. [ zero interest for the year but already taxable]. It seems to me that interest should be t...

I purchased a substantial 1yr CD last april. Somehow, I did not have a chance to name beneficiary or make my wife joint owner. Their website is impossible- only giving me verification of the CD. We have a Sony smart TV using Huluplus, Netflix and Amazon Prime w/o cable. Very easy to navigate. My 2nd TV with Amazon fire stick is a nightmare- opening screen is full of apps/ads. We have sold our primary residence with a substantial gain over the 500K exemption.

I typically make estimates equal to prior year taxes. Does this still shield me for a substantial
