I recently retired and took a pension lump sum. I have retained my 401k which has a stable value fund. Instead of investing my lump sum as heavily in bonds, I shifted my 401k to stable value and added equities with the lump sum. My total allocation for now is 50/25/25 for equities/bonds/stable value.
