We have been chip and PIN in Canada for a few years now and I don't sign my cards and there are no signed receipts anymore. Most transactions for less than $100-200 are done with 'tap' so the PIN isn't protective on those.

13 hour flight to Addis coming up in a couple of weeks. Will be booked economy but I'll be looking for an upgrade at the gate if the price is right. The price will have to be very good though as I find it hard to justify the cost.

I always say yes and then usually toss it unless business expense and even then sometimes as I have a record of it on credit card statement anyway. At the gas pump I also always select 'yes' when queried about wanting a receipt.

I am at a solid 1 now. I am retired as far as I am concerned and the job I do now is teaching which they pay me for but many years ago they did not. We don't need the money and I would in fact do it for free. Very much enjoy it.

It's interesting that when you go to the actual reliability breakdown the redesigned 2016 Civic gets the highest rating in almost every category except being flagged for audio system and average for its 'power equipment' and yet still gets a poor rating which is what the 2017 rating is largely based...

I stopped my disability insurance at 51, the year before I retired. I stopped life insurance at 55 but certainly could have done so much sooner. I kept a critical illness policy in place as it has return of premium rider which comes due in 5 years.

I went to contacts for hockey and they made a huge difference. Fortunately it is a very high contrast situation so that helps. I am still good with my bifocals for tennis as I find that I am always tracking the ball and not using peripheral vision much. Contacts also mean no problem wearing a helmet...

With the Canadian dollar at 74 cents, flying into Calgary and then staying in Banff and skiing Sunshine and Lake Louise would be fairly affordable this year. We would rent a car and drive. Good roads and usually in good condition.
