Re: Wife's OBGYN will only refer her to one location.

I didn't see this mentioned above but do you need a referral with your insurance? If you don't, get a paper copy of the order and go to the imaging center of your choice.

Re: Any expats retired in europe? How much needed to retire?

I can't speak for any of the countries you listed but my dad retired from a car manufacturer about 12 years ago @ 55. His pension income was right under $45k. He sold his paid off house in Detroit. He bought a condo in Miami for the winter months of Oct-Feb and he has my grandparents house in Serbia...

Re: 529s for kids - separate accounts for parent and grandparent?

529s owned by custodial parents are treated a little differently than a relative owned 529s. https://www.ml.com/articles/could-your-529-education-savings-account-limit-your-childs-financial-aid.html Income matters more than savings do It’s true that parents’ income and assets are used to determine a...

Re: Taxable Merrill Lynch acct

I'm assuming that you opened a Merrill Edge account (not a full service Merrill Lynch account). Anyway, any ETFs trade for free on their platform. So if you are looking for a Total Stock Market fund, consider any one of these 3: VTI (Vanguard), ITOT (iShares), SCHB (Schwab). All work just fine in a...

Taxable Merrill Lynch acct

Husband and I use Bank of America as our bank. We keep $20k as our emergency fund parked there but it's getting peanuts in interest ($5.75 for 2020...ouch!). We only need $5k in there and would like to invest the rest in a taxable account. Since we need $20k in all our accounts at BOA (Merrill Lynch...

Re: LenderFi: Who did they sell your mortgage to?

Loan sold to Fannie Mae, LenderFi is servicing our loan. We've made 3-4 payments so far. Our LTV is 42% so I'm guessing this is why they kept it.

Re: Refinance Mega Thread

I'm being lazy and haven't read thru all 197 pages of responses. Forgive me. I'll be quick: I have a $155,000 30y mortgage with a 3.63% interest rate on a SECOND home that I am a little over a year into it (15 payments) . The 3% and under rates make me think I should Refi. I have more than 20% equi...

Re: My LenderFi refinance is going well

Thanks @vasaver & @anon_investor. LenderFi sold ours to Fannie Mae (before 1st payment) w/ LenderFi servicing the loan. This was our first refi and wasn't sure how it all worked. Didn't know if they'd sell again to someone else after this.

How quickly does LenderFi sell a refi'd mortgage? Before the first payment is due on the new loan?

Portfolio Advice - 401K investments

My husband and I wanted to get advice on his 401k investments. The stocks he's chosen have high expense ratios so I'm curious if that's the best option for what we want (most growth over time). We're relatively young and are ok with riskier funds but want to be well balanced and diversified. Husband...

Re: Is it public record when you pay off a mortgage?

It depends on the county you live in. In my county you can see everything online by a person's name. The neighboring county you have to make an account and can't see much unless you pay to view more detailed info. If you go to your county's clerk of courts and find the area for Deed/land search or p...

Re: My LenderFi refinance is going well

I just closed on my lenderfi refi this past week. The payoff to our original mortgage just went through. The two payment coupons the Silk notary gave us is for January and February. There's no December. For anyone who closed recently, is this what you got as well? I know we paid some interest in the...

Re: Refinance Mega Thread

I'm looking for advice on whether to refi or not. Currently in year 3 of a 30 year loan at 3.875%. Principal balance is slightly over $200k and from what I've been reading, it sounds like I will not get the best rates due to the relatively small loan size. No plans to move anytime soon and due to p...

Lived in both Houston and Atlanta. Airport is usually a little far from the great areas in both cities but they check all your boxes.
