Re: Roth IRA

My portfolio is with Fidelity. I have a 401K with 425K that is diverse with all Vanguard funds. I recently ready the Bolglehead guide to investing and actually looked at some of the fees i was paying. WOW - I was shocked. I re-evaluated the 401K and added some index funds. I think i did well. The Ro...

Roth IRA

Evening - Looking for some advice. I am going to reinvest 10K this week (tomorrow) into my ROTH IRA and will be contributing the 7K I am allowed under my plan, per year. I will be doing this for at least 15 years and wont touch it. Should I go with VTSAX or is there a Fidelity Index that is better? ...

Is there a good one in this mix i should concentrate on or should i add another? Any advice would be appreciated. Duration - ...

Re: 401K Retirement Advice

I didn't think that taking 100K a year out for 10 years would make sense because i would get killed in taxes. I guess what i am asking is if I should take anything out over the 10 years or do nothing? What would be a sensible number - 5K per month? You are correct, no social security for me. I pay i...

401K Retirement Advice

Is this a good idea or am i getting guided down the wrong path? Guy retires from the Railroad at 62 - 40 years of service. Lets just say he doesn't need his 401K (Balance - 1 million) to live the same quality of life, at the moment. He has 8 years before the government makes him start to withdraw fu...

Financial Advisor / Planner

I just read Bogleheads guide to investing and i know they are not big fans of advisors unless they have been vetted. Can someone please google "Highball Advisors" and let me know what your thoughts are? Fee structure - Qualifications? Yes, I am a railroad professional.

I appreciate the help.

Re: Bogleheads guide to investing

Last question of the night since i am new here...... Been contributing to my 401K since 20 years old. 51 now at the same company that matches 7%. I have at least 10 more years to work. How important is a Bond fund right now and what percentage should i target? The issue is, my company's plan through...

Bogleheads guide to investing

HI - Just finished the subject book - great read. Index funds seems to be the way to go so here is my question. I have 40% of my portfolio in Fidelity Total Bonds fund (FTBFX). After reading this book and taking a closer look, it appears the fees are quite high in the Total Bond fund and i really ne...
