Re: Is Vanguard's money where its mouth is?

I do not begrudge the executive leadership of Vanguard excellent compensation... Just to be clear - the issue raised here is with how Vanguard votes by proxy on the executive compensation in the companies held within Vanguard funds and not with Vanguard's compensation of its own leadership. I think...

Re: Is Vanguard's money where its mouth is?

No, I find that absurd. Vanguard is an index fund management company. Do you really want them to run your company? One way they could really cut costs is to cut the pay across the board, top to bottom, at all the top companies in the S&P500. Would that be ok? Voting executive compensation lower is ...

Re: Is Vanguard's money where its mouth is?

Does a shareholder not reap their profits from the companies they invest in? Are the costs incurred by a business, not costs to the shareholder? Why should one pay more for this cost saving measure when action is already being taken on the issue? Simply check the other box. If Vanguard wants to leav...

Re: Is Vanguard's money where its mouth is?

It stands to reason that a company that is interested in providing low expense investments to its shareholders would be interested in using all of the available avenues to diminish costs - especially when the option to provide that input is so directly presented. When else would be a better opportun...

Is Vanguard's money where its mouth is?

After reading portions of Bogle's Don't Count On It! and as well as the constant discussion of all things Boglehead here, it seems difficult to reconcile Vanguard's proxy voting policy on executive pay within their investments. Vanguard's proxy policy: https://about.vanguard.com/investment-stewardsh...

Re: FL 529 best for 100% US total stock market?

Thanks for the replies thus far. Has anyone had any experience with transferring a 529 from one state to another? When coupled with the uncertainty of being able to use all invested funds in a 529, starting a 529 in Florida with the likely transfer to another state, the (possibly mis)perceived compl...

Re: FL 529 best for 100% US total stock market?

Acknowledging that the cost difference for US TSM funds is not much between the states mentioned and the 0.02% where FL is for their TSM fund, VSMPX, are there any hidden issues with the plan to start at the lowest cost place for 100% equity (FL) and then transferring to another state (VT, in this c...
