I just had to go to the bank regarding my cashing in of HH Bonds. I had to download a form from the Treasury, fill it out and and take it to the bank, sign in their presence and have them affix a BOND STAMP ( not Medallion) to the form.

Does Vanguard issue anything like a cashier's or certified check on one of its money market accounts? I need a "guaranteed" check to pay for a car. I think I need to transfer funds to my bank and then ask them to do the guaranteed check. But I'm hoping I'm wrong and Vanguard provides such a service...

Beneficiary designations on financial accounts take precedence over anything you might say in a will or a trust. Financial accounts with beneficiary designations can be passed to survivors without any probate action whatsoever. There is generally no issue as long as the beneficiary is of legal age....

Can Outside Mutual Funds being Transferred "In Kind" to a Vanguard Brokerage account? Thanks for any replies. Depends on the fund. There are some proprietary funds that cannot be held outside of the fund company that runs them (I don't know any of them off the top of my head but I know they exist)....

Seniors working at semi-menial jobs is very common. From Walmart greeters and cashiers to elderly baggers, cashiers and stock boys in supermarkets. I've always done my own taxes. Did them by hand until late 1990s. Typed out the IRS' PDF forms and printed and mailed until about 2004. Used Turbo Tax from then until maybe 2012, then switched to TaxAct because they were cheaper. Now that TaxAct has raised their prices, I'm planning to try FreeTaxU...
