They are subtracted daily from the fund's Net Asset Value based on the expense ratio.

Re: Best Books for Complete Beginners

It was JL Collin's Simple Path to Wealth that go the ball rolling for me, and with some more research and few other books (some mentioned in this thread) I ended up here. And I'm so glad I did, at a relatively young age! https://www.amazon.com/Simple-Path-Wealth-financial-independence/dp/1533667926 .

Yeah, these last 2 days felt brutal. I jinxed it when I said it felt so good a few posts above

Hopped on the train in May, but I guess these last 2 days is the feeling people have been getting over the past decade with this fund. Hopefully it lasts, at least to some degree :beer

Re: Mutual Funds in a Custodial Account for a child

Thanks for all the advice! I'm starting to think it will be much easier to just hold the funds in my own account like it was suggested.

Re: Mutual Funds in a Custodial Account for a child

Tax efficiency matters with UTMA accounts because the unearned income is subject to the Kiddie Tax. Vanguard VTSAX has the same tax efficiency as Total Stock Market ETFs. However, VTSAX has a $3K minimum investment. So it may be necessary to use an ETF until that minimum is reached. Note: In my min...

Mutual Funds in a Custodial Account for a child

I am thinking about opening a custodial account for a newborn child of a best friend of mine but have some questions around the holdings in the account. My plan is to have 100% total stock market in the account for 21 years with dividends reinvested. I would be contributing to the account at least e...

Re: M I B with Bill Miller

Funny to see this topic right as I'm reading William Bernstein's The Investor's Manifesto, and just got passed a part where he talks about a Bill Miller. Had to double-check if it's the same guy, sure enough, it is. The most spectacular example of luck masquerading as skill was the recent case of Wi...

Re: Blockchain: Disruption of Financial Intermediaries

This thread reminded me of a quote from Alan Kay that I love: "The Internet was done so well that most people think of it as a natural resource like the Pacific Ocean, rather than something that was man-made. When was the last time a technology with a scale like that was so error-free? The Web, in c...

Re: Least Expensive Way to Have a Cellphone for emergency use only?

I have a phone in the household that is very rarely used on a T-Mobile prepaid plan for $3/mo. You get 30 minutes/texts per month, no data, and anything more is charged extra. They may have stopped selling that plan to new customers though as I can't find it on their site. There is a $3/month option...

Re: Why not 100% PSLDX?

There is an interesting thread regarding bonds not performing well in future years -- https://www.bogleheads.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=318201 What are your thoughts on possible implications for PSLDX if that were the case? I'm thinking it is highly likely that it will be a while before we see b...

I heard about equitystat.com from a member on here and it has been pretty good. There is a way to import transactions from a csv, but I ended up doing them manually. Also it's free free, for now.

Does YNAB sync well with brokerage accounts ? Vanguard Fidelity Ally I use YNAB myself, but don't sync investment accounts (aka tracking accounts) only checking and savings (aka budget accounts). I manually update investment accounts at the end of the month, primarily for the net worth calculation/...

On the CSR topic, I did not see it mentioned in the thread but if your annual fee renews between April and July they should credit you $100. Mine renews in August, so I definitely plan to call and ask nicely if they can apply it to me as well when the time comes. https://www.cnbc.com/select/coronavi...
