Re: Coronavirus and the market

It's really, really bad. And as I've stated her a number of times, I believe much worse that what is already priced in. I think the country is still in denial. And as I've noted here many times, there are a number of events that will almost certainly happen in the coming weeks that I believe will take the market lower. I think our biggest problem, the elephant in the room, cannot even be discussed on this site, because of posting rules... But having said all of that, I do think we'll get through this. It may take 7-10 years for the market to fully recover, but it will recover. Things are very grim now, and will get worse before getting better, but I still have hope. The main thing is to stay healthy over the coming weeks and months. Hopefu...

She doesn't have the cash to even get through the end of the month, that probably wouldn't be the case if she hadn't done multiple international trips over the last year. FWIW, my sister is 35 and highly educated (undergrad at Brown, MAs from both Oxford and NYU), but she did not use her educational opportunities to develop marketable skills.
Then there would be articles "millennials are killing the travel industry"

Very interesting.

So - what (if anything) has New York done “wrong”?
Higher population density would be my guess

Re: How Is Your Job Being Impacted By The Current Crisis?

I work at an active senior center for a local govt. Per the governor we are closed to the public.

My job is mostly the same for now.

Re: Coronavirus and the market

Will anything happen to those in congress with a heads up while downplaying the risks and selling, one even investing in telework?

Seems at least 3-4, i lost count, are likely guilty of this.

Re: Bogleheads community discussion - Coronavirus

Is this Coronavirus being over blown by the media. See news about the 2019 - 2020 season has done just in the US. https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/preliminary-in-season-estimates.htm Still thinking it's overblown now? Yup. Pick your expert I guess. I pick John P.A. Ioannidis, professor of medicine, of epidemiology and population health, of biomedical data science, and of statistics at Stanford University and co-director of Stanford’s Meta-Research Innovation Center. He says this is all a huge overreaction and can potentially cause more deaths. If flattening the curve isn't sufficient to prevent the medical system from being overcapacity, but it does stretch the peak out longer, you could have more deaths of people who need the health c...

Re: CarMax During economic Crisis times [impact on car values]

Edit- OP said "exotic" i meant "economic"... also, I know they're overpriced to buy from but i'm thinking worse case scenario if we had to sell our car to them and buy a cheaper car somewhere else.

Like, if I sold now, I could get X, but say in 6 months if crap hits the fan worse and we sold, would we be looking at 60% of X?

CarMax During economic Crisis times [impact on car values]

tried to Google but how was CarMax impacted during 2008?

If the need arose for us to sell our car wondering if fairly new car prices plummet by their value during economic crisis times.
