New Mexico Bogleheads Meet Up - Abq / Santa Fe

Howdy folk, Looking for the details on a chapter of the New Mexico Bogleheads to meet up with. I searched the forums and sub forums and didn't land upon relevant contact details for local BGs. I'm willing to drive or coordinate a meet up in Albuquerque or Santa Fe, if none exists that is. A little b...

Signed 2.5 % @ 15 year 70 LTV North pointe today What state? Been trying to get the same 2.5% (mythical) rate for 5 weeks now. My NorthPointe rep says the lowest without points is 2.625%. How much in closing costs did you pay and what was the breakdown? Congrats on the phenomenal offer! Probably on...

Not sure how likely getting an internship is starting after year 1 (maybe this is common for Michigan students? I am not familiar), but if this is the goal you could consider having him look into studying for the first actuarial exam now if he is so inclined and thinks he may start out in that majo...

Dude, you're a good brother. :beer So how many pull-ups can you rock out in a set? Cheers man! I'm not the best, but I do want to see the kid succeed Edit: on second thought I'm really not. I put him in headlocks and tell him to go to sleep too often to be healthy 21 for now. Working on getting the...

Re: Pay Sibling's Undergrad or Refinance Parent's Mortgage

A big problem is that your parents are not doing super well on their retirement even if you did not include their home equity in their net worth. If they take out a new 15 year mortgage then it would not be paid off until they are 70 and 63 and retiring while you still have a mortgage makes it hard...

Spot on. NW was liquid NW only. Not including home equity in the $400k for parents NW.

Re: Pay Sibling's Undergrad or Refinance Parent's Mortgage

Is there any possibility a mistake could have been made when entering information on the FAFSA? Can your brother live at home to save money? I think you are being such a kind sibling to want to help your brother out. I wish you the best! Thank you for the kind words! 1) No mistakes made entering FA...

Pay Sibling's Undergrad or Refinance Parent's Mortgage

Hello Bogleheads, Question has been asked a few times already. I utilized search function and read the top 5 threads E2E. Still have a few questions about particular situation: Stats: ME - 28 years old, low 100k salary, 400k NW, single, no kids, stable (for now) employment, renter, no RE exposure Pa...

Re: Can I retire?

You can definitely retire. They say a 3% or 4% withdrawl rate is time tested to last past death in 95% of cases. That draw down rate for you would be close to $36k - $45k a year. You are pulling well below that figure. Seems to be perfect okay. Assuming healthcare would be taken care of by employers...

Long time lurker here. Thanks to this forum for suggesting Northpointe. We just locked a cash out refi 2.75 for 30yrs. Under $1200 closing costs. Truly the unicorn mortgage. This is coming from a 3.5 fixed 30. Can you provide a bit of background on how you were able to obtain such a competitive rat...

Re: Delivery Drivers - IRS Schedule C loss against W2 wages

Hello! Thanks for the reply. Yes I believe my losses were legitimate. I didn't claim much other than mileage. The mileage based pay model made it easy to do so as we get paid for $.55 per mile with passengers and all miles driven in search of rides are able to be deducted at $.57/mile. This is gener...

I claimed 3 years of losses for Uber/Lyft based on my Schedule C. It was easy to do with the mileage based pay model averaging $5k worth of losses ye...

Re: Who is continuing to buy as planned?

Don't have any plans, but I DCA $1k every paycheck into the market. My current goal is to draft an IPS this week and fine tune it to avoid any impulse decisions. Should have done it over the weekend but got lazy. Will get it done today.
