Re: Second refrigerator issue in 2 years

Hello Bogleheads! We bought our home in 2020 and we used the existing refrigerator which was only a few years old at the time. In 2021 it stopped cooling, we did initial troubleshooting and consulted a professional who told us the board needed replacement but the part was backordered for months. We decided to just buy a new fridge in 2021 which was working fine until two days ago when we had almost the same exact issue. The freezer and refrigerator are no longer cooling and the board has a red light flashing on it 3 times in succession. Per our research this could mean a number of issues including a bad board, bad temperature sensor, bad starter relay, or bad compressor. The current model is an LG LRDCS2603S. This seems to be a trend and I...

Re: Order of home maintenance projects, painting then roof?

I'm planning several home maintenance projects over the next few years and trying to decide how to schedule them. Two of the biggest are painting the house and replacing the roof/adding solar. Painting the house is a higher priority than replacing the roof so I'd like to at least finish that this summer. Gutters and downspouts are usually replaced as part of a roof project but I think I'd like to replace them during the painting project because if I could remove them, it would make painting the rafter tails and areas covered by downspouts much easier. Gutter replacement seems to be a 1-2 day job and fairly straightforward. I'm thinking about upgrading from aluminum to copper. Any potential problem with this? New gutters won't interfere wit...

It just doesn’t feel good to be underpaid and it impacts my motivation. I received a 2k $ raise in March which isn’t even a raise.
Yes, I could keep applying and interviewing, but it’s draining too and I’ve been trying now for over a year.
So you received a $2K raise this year, but it would only take (2) years, ‘or more’ (much, much, more) to increase your salary by $25K? Interesting.

Agreed. Definitely should consider Eureka when looking at a tent for car camping with a dog. We have a Mountain Hardwear for the wife and I, but when we take the dog, we use a Eureka Timberline 4. Looks like Eureka has 20% off select tents until 12am tonight as well.

Interesting. You state the following in the original post.
Money is no object. I just want one that will last normal use. Prefer something low profile with places to put parts and small tools.
Then you proceeded to purchase a creeper from one of the lowest quality tool suppliers and it is neither low profile nor has storage trays.

You could have purchased something similar to the below creeper listed in the previous link provided, which would have met all of your requirements (money no object, last the rest of your life, low profile, and storage)

Just curious. What supermarket do you shop at? I've never seen Wild Caught Alaskan salmon for 14.99 let alone 10.99 that's maybe what farm raised salmon sells for on the east coast.
I buy Wild Caught Sockeye Salmon Fillets regularly from Wegmans, $25.98 for 2lbs.

I've traditionally stayed in hotels both for business and personal trips. On vacations, when the kids were little, hotels we were fine with two king/queen beds. As the kids have aged, we've started using Airbnb's since we desire two bedrooms and two baths and the hotel options for such accommodations are limited and expensive. More often than not, I'm finding the Airbnb's lacking. Most bothersome has been when you find things not as they should be, you can contact the host but the fact that they often aren't on-site means it's difficult to get things resolved quickly or at all. At fairly highly rated properties, I've found missing smoke alarms, broken door knobs, toilets with tendency to run on after flush, marginally effective heating and...

Re: Dog DNA Test

The utility of the dog DNA test is exactly the same as for human DNA tests: 99% entertainment, 1% for contributing to aggregate genetic data which might one day be medically useful someday. I used Wisdom Panel for my dog, and the results came back as primarily as 'Canaan Dog' - which is basically a feral dog of indeterminate lineage. In other words, my mutt is mostly a mutt. I'm really glad they cleared that up for me. Your mutt must be too much of a mutt for a DNA test to determine breeds on either side. Too much cross breeding will cause this, and Wisdom Panel states this in their Help Center. You are also incorrect about the accuracy of a DNA test. https://help.wisdompanel.com/s/article/Why-is-there-so-much-Mixed-Breed-on-my-report

In my case, the DNA test confirmed a breed that is pre-disposed to a certain medical condition that my dog ended up needing ongoing treatment for so it was very helpful to me and to my vet. It gives you more data about a rescue pet so can be very useful. Also, I donate to several animal shelters. The first generation Camaro (67-69) Z/28 was a 302 to compete in SCCA. The Z/28 was never available in a 396. A 396 was an option on the SS package.

In our last 3 homes we've always had GE over the range microwaves. Never a bit of trouble and we've used most functions on it, especially reheat and defrost.

This is similar to ours.

Lucky-Goldstar has been "LG" since the merger in 1983... almost (4) decades ago.

Me too. I'd like to know where to get a 30 yr fixed jumbo under 3%!
I would be interested to know as well.

OP states Wells Fargo and Citi. Wells Fargo is currently at 3.5% w/ 3.534% APR on a 30 yr jumbo purchase w/ .5 points. Citi is currently at 3.5% w/ 3.5% APR on a 30 yr jumbo purchase w/ .75 points.
