Re: Collective thoughts

This is absolutely fantastic and deserves another bump. Robert, after seeing the quality of several of your other posts, I clicked through to your profile specifically hoping that you'd put together something like this, but not even imagining that it would be so comprehensive. Thank you!

BTW, links to external sites are forbidden in signatures.
I understand the reasoning... Just saying that the message the user gets only says links aren't allowed. It's unclear at that point what the problem is if you didn't actually post a link. Maybe the message could be tweaked? Anyway, no difference to me - just thought I'd throw the suggestion out there.

The reason is to deter spammers from bursting onto the scene and posting links to their latest get-rich-quick schemes.
I know - the notification I got says 4 days. The problem is, I wasn't trying to post a link. Posting the name of a site with the dot com is also not allowed. Nor is the *word* u-r-l. That wasn't very intuitive, and took a lot of playing around for me to figure out. (I was trying to quote a post with that word in it, and just kept being told that I couldn't post a link. Somewhat frustrating! :) )

New user woes

Hello, First off, sweet forum you've got here. Exactly the resource I was looking for, without really realizing it. :) One issue though. I was trying to reply to a post here. Ironically I can't link to it, but insert your domain and I'm sure you can find it: yourdomain/forum/viewtopic.php?p=567010#567010 I tried to quote the post by zeusrock1, and was told I couldn't post a link. Well, there was no link to be found, but I assumed it had a problem with the "dotcom". So I removed that part. Still no joy. Eventually I removed the whole second sentence of his post from my quote (definitely no link in it), and finally that worked. It took a good 10 attempts to figured out why I couldn't post though, and I doubt many casual new users ha...

For some reason it thinks the second sentence you wrote is a link, and therefore won't let me quote it as a new user. (?!)
You can also use searchtempest to search multiple craigslist areas based on a zip code radius.
Cool! I literally just found this forum yesterday - in the process of switching over to an all index/ETF portfolio - and now I find a post about my site!

FYI, searchtempest also offers the 'Get RSS Feeds' option mentioned above, and doesn't require you to use Firefox (although it's a great browser) or modify any configuration settings. Just run your search as desired, then click the 'Get RSS Feeds' button on the results page! Much easier than saving them from each craigslist city individually...
