Re: Solar Panel worth it 2019? SoCal region

Other unknowns... Will the panel production decrease with age. Will the clipping still be at the same level in 3,4, or 5 years? LG is one of better panels for annual degradation: Output Decline Year 1 3.0% Years 2 to 25 0.4% Output at End of Warranty Term 87.0% LG360Q1C-A5 PTC rating is 337.6w, so ...

Re: Solar Panel worth it 2019? SoCal region

With a solar installation, is the existing electrical panel typically used, or do they refurbish/modify the existing electrical panel, or give you a new panel? I have the orig 100Amp panel from 1970 on my house. Two electricians told me it needs about $1200 worth of work (not related to solar). So ...

In any case, it would only make a minor difference and it's not worth doing anything about it for an existing project.
Fully agreed. It should have been initial installation time decision. I raised the initial inquiry to undersatand the rationale for the initial decision.

Re: Solar Panel worth it 2019? SoCal region

Mervinj7, My DC to AC ratio is 1.22 which is actually in the ideal range. No one is saying it's not in the range of "acceptable" solutions. It's just that you could have avoided clipping and gotten (slightly) higher yearly production by using something like the Enphase IQ7A, which clips at 366W ins...

I'm in SoCal here. I have SCE and I'm on TOUD-4-9PM. You can view my public page here: https://enlighten.enphaseenergy.com/pv/public_systems/7qgw1555720/overview?preview=1 . According to production history from above link, It appears that your system @Cwise output clips at 1715 WH per every 15min w...

Re: Solar Installation - 0.75 Year Later

Unfortunately, I can no longer find a link to the spreadsheet but his guide is still up. The following was a screenshot of my analysis pre-install assuming a flat $0.29/kWh rate. However, the IRR and NPV are already incorrect since TOU rates will change substantially in five years. https://imgur.co...
