Re: Chase YouInvest

Thanks for suggesting VUSXX. I've never done anything like this before and I'm on the page where I'm buying and it's asking if the dividends and capital gains should be 'reinvest' or 'pay in cash'. Which should I choose? Thanks for the replies so far but could anyone help me determine which of the t...

Re: Chase YouInvest

Thanks for the replies so far but could anyone help me determine which of the three money market funds I should choose? I live in California and am in a low tax bracket.

Re: Chase YouInvest

Thank you for the reply. Which one of the three do you think is best? Also, I feel I should mention I'm in California in case there's some sort of tax difference.

Buy one of the Vanguard money market funds, like VUSXX, VMFXX or VMMXX, etc.

Chase YouInvest

Does anyone know what the best product to buy in YouInvest would be? I have $75,000 that I need to invest in the best way for the next 90 days and then I will remove the money from this account. Can anyone tell me what to do specifically? Also, I live in California and am in a low tax bracket. I'm a...

Do you guys think just parking 75,000 here without opening a YouInvest account is wise? I don't have any investments to bring in.
You might as well invest that money in a bond ETF to earn some interest.
Will doing that exceed the $1,000 pay-off for 90 days with this deal?

Re: Chase $750 for depositing 75K

This whole thing has been so painful with Chase. My local branch is truly incompetent. They had all kinds of issues opening up Sapphire Checking / Youinvest- that took a week. Now another week has gone by and the funds from Schwab have still not been transferred into Youinvest. Original request was...

Re: Chase $750 for depositing 75K

Oddly, Chase has apparently reneged on its offer of 60,000 rewards points in return for opening a Sapphire checking w $75,000 min bal (which requirement we met by opening a linked YouInvest account with that balance). All the time limits and requirements have long since been met and I can’t get Cha...

Re: Chase $750 for depositing 75K

My local branch says that you can't use any kind of retirement fund to meet the 75,000. Do any of you guys know if that's true? And if that is the case, do you guys recommend that I simply bring in $75,000 and plunk it down into the sapphire savings account? I don't really get how the You Invest sys...

Re: Chase $750 for depositing 75K

https://accounts.chase.com/consumer/banking/online/sapphirechampion Says certain retirement accounts and by description implies IRAs would be fine. Doesn't say 6 months anywhere, says paid 10 days after 90 days. Since the $30K is just sitting in a savings account, do you think it's a good idea to d...

Chase $750 for depositing 75K

Hi guys do any of you know if Chase will allow you to use your IRA in that account to get the payoff? If I have a $45,000 IRA do you think it would be smart to park $30,000 for 90 days to get that payoff? Also, they told me you have to keep the account open for 6 months. Does that mean it can be emp...

He thinks he can get part time work where he'll be able to sit. Why is it such a bad idea to put some money in a mutual fund or something similar? Part-time work would be a very good idea if practical. Your friend does not have enough money to be risking any on an investment in a stock mutual fund,...

If you look on bankrates.com or similar sites they will list the current interest rates at a veriety of banks. You can also find CDs listed on that site and similar sites. Right now vio has one of the highest rates I'm aware of (2.42%). CFG has 2.5%. For someone unused to online banking I'd probabl...

Re: Savings

I bonds make a lot of sense right now for $10k/person/year (so if you're married, you could get $20k in I bonds for 2019, and buy another $20k in January). 0.5% real return (beats TIPS rates, currently), and interest can be tax deferred until you redeem them (up to 30 years). You can also buy anoth...

For how long? Do you have any plans to spend the $100,000? If so, when?
A small amount of it is used every month. Probably around a thousand. And I'd like to save it for the foreseeable future.

Not exactly news, but Ally again is dropping the savings rate to 1.8% effective tomorrow. Is there a reason why you use Ally for your savings? Convenience and the amount I keep is not exactly staggering (less than 20K). While their rates are never the highest, they are usually competitive. For my C...

Discover is still 1.9.
Vanguard federal MMF is also 1.9. So this is way bigger reduction for MMF than it is for either Ally or Discover compared to rates 6 months ago.
I'm sorry but what exactly is an MMF?
