Re: Relationship mortgage discounts for moving a million assets

Question re: the relationship mortgage. On Citi (I'm sure WF has similar condition), there's a tiered set of $$ that allows you predefined rate discount. This amounts to depositing those $$ amount to some deposit accounts (checking, saving, trading etc). Question is, how long do you need to maintai...

Re: The Final, Definitive Thread on Brokerage Transfer Bonuses

For TDAM, actual transfer needs to be completed by Oct 8th. Not just initiating transfer. Not much time -- it takes a few days for ACATs. Disappointing that the board missed this earlier :( ADDED: *Offer valid for preselected clients who respond to the offer. So not clear they would honor it if you...

Re: Where to live in NYC?

Suggestions that may work with that budget and are accessible via subways/public transportation: 1. Bronx - Washington Heights 2. Queens- Forest Hills/RegoPark/Kew Gardens 3. Brooklyn- Bay Ridge/ Bensonhurst 4. Staten Island- anywhere 10-15mins from ferry terminal $2000/mth can get maybe a studio in...

Re: Relationship mortgage discounts for moving a million assets

No, that was what they offered me off the bat. Maybe it was good timing (when 10 yr yields were hovering around 1.4%). For the transfer, I dont plan on keeping it in CITI, $$ just needs to be in any combo of checking / savings for 5 days after close. I was hoping for some type of correction to tax l...

Re: Failed to file S Corp Taxes on time, fined by the IRS

Yes, its going to be a very painful and expensive lesson!! As a lesson here, when a taxing authority thinks they are owed money they never go away. Even if you never owed it to begin with, the debt might still end up in the hands of a third party collector. I have seen this play out hundreds of time...

Re: Failed to file S Corp Taxes on time, fined by the IRS

I actually reached out to a EA, they have asked for $5,000 retainer for processing previous years returns 2015-2018, closing out the corps in each state, NYS,NJ,NYC + Federal. Does that sound right? This is irrespective of any penalties but they would be able to abate some of the fines I believe. Cu...

Re: Failed to file S Corp Taxes on time, fined by the IRS

Curious how much your cpa cost for back taxes? I'm in a similar position with a s-corp I left open after going w2. I'm still dealing with this issue. I hired a CPA back then, but, according to him (and what someone else said here on the forum), they cannot collect from a company with no income or as...
