Exposure to US dollar crash

Let’s say the US dollar crashed by 35% over the next year or two due to near zero consumer savings and sky high government and corporate debt.

Whether you think this is possible or not, how would one avoid exposure to this?

Have recent events affected boglehead investment philosophy?

Has covid and the recent civil unrest changed anything in terms of boglehead philosophy? I was watching the looting and thinking I should sell when I get back to where I was and move everything to what I view as more stable countries. Like Switzerland or Japan. I had 420k in voo (75%) and BND (25%) I am 48, and this is my retirement not to be touched for another 17 years. Obviously, I am down about 25% right now but I want to buy at the low. Yes, our gdp is half what it used to be and the experts predict returns will be half of what they used to be too.

I was in the same boat. I bought a bunch of bonds, screwed up and ended up in a bond fund once I did the research and figured it out. To me, the risk is way more spread out with a bond fund, obviously. If yields go up then the fund tracks it and goes up. If yields go down I think the bond fund will ...

Are bond returns constrained by us debt?

I recall my Dad saying that if you had bonds in 1990, you would get 14% returns. It seems to me, and I am a new investor, but it seems to me that the fundamentals o...

Just to add to the excellent responses above, reliably predicting which way GDP itself will go can could be a real challenge. Does stock value predict future performance? If so, it seems odd to me. To me valuation is an indication of a thing’s intrinsic value.
