invest lump sump now and dollar cost averaging with new $$ is the best strategy. If you bought 1 share for $100 and if it went down to $50 then your new $100 will buy you 2 shares. This strategy worked for me and I just retired at the age of 50.

If you need to sell bonds/buy equities to rebalance to your desired 60/40 asset allocation (AA), then you should do it. I paid off my mortgage 22 years ago and invested 100% in growth equities the last 22 years with no bonds. By not having a mortgage I was able to take more risk in equities with really high return and finally retired at 50 and now 60/40 with 3 fund portfolio.

I don't think so but you could max out roth or TIRA. I was in the same boat as you but maxed out 401k the first 3 months of this year.

I am a landlord and can't wait to sell 5 years from now to help my daughter buy a house. With a lawyer, it took me 90 days to evict one tenant in California and I was quick with the paper work...…..sucks to be a landlord in California.

I predict you will hit 1 million dollars at around the age of 52 assuming you max out every year. My 401k hit 1million after 24 years but I was 100% in growth funds with no bond until the age of 50. You are doing much better then me at your age.

Go with Vanguard or Fidelity, stick with just 3 funds, rebalance one time per year then just enjoy your life. You don't need to give away 10k-15K per year for every $1,000,000 to a financial advisor.

Fidelity did a good job of marketing with zero fee funds to attract new customers because I looked into Fidelity vs Vanguard late last years and decided to go with Fidelity because of zero fee funds.

if it was me then I rather use the $$ to pay off the mortgage then go 100% equities specially how high the market is now. I had zero debt or a mortgage around 32 yo, living in Socal and invested 100% in equities until turning 50 and retired with new AA of 60/40.
