Re: Do You Tip At Counter Service Restaurants?

I don't like the tip jar when I get an ice cream. They hand me a cone and get a tip? I just ate at Culver's. Order the food at counter and they bring it to table. No tip. I think tipping at counter is absurd barring something unusual. The screen is to guilt you. They chose the job. Get real.

Re: Requesting some general life advice (career, living location, etc.).

When I started working I lived in an area that was upper lower class. I lived there for 15 years. The location to get to things was good but the area was gradually changing for the worse. Across the highway from me was the next city over and they were thrIving. It was stunning. The neighborhood went...

Were you aware of the issue prior to purchasing? You almost have to rent the space to maintain relations in good condition. Maybe add some type of liability waiver as a requirement.

Re: $1,000 a month or $180,000 Pension Question

Cop in Ohio here. I'd take the drop. I am in drop now. You get the immediate possession of cash that you control plus you have the pension. Pension benefits change and will continue to. Once you have the cash you have it. Health insurance will be one of the first things to go. Then Reduced payments ...

I have a Bosch front loader that is good. Leave the door open or cracked to permit circulation. Plain hot water cycle with bleach quarterly. Helped reduce water consumption since my rates are high. Has a built in water heater system that is unlike any other.

Everyone I know that can purchase pension credits and did was happy. Usually the longer you wait the higher the cost. Every year you can go earlier is priceless. Assuming your pension system is solvent and you are sure it is safe. Pension funds vary widely so you must be certain.

I have a loan for a new roof. I could have liquidated investments. Instead I will max out my 457 and Roth IRA first. I will pause other investments and pay off the loan asap. I can't go back in time and make up the lost contributions to retirement accounts if I miss them.

I would put in a sprinkler system while the yard is like that. Then next month spread seed. High quality preferably Kentucky Bluegrass. You will have people fighting for it....it could look that good. I did that twice and people still stare at it and comment.

Tipping is out of control. When I rarely pick up food I never tip. I don't tip when I get fast food or subway and they hand me a bag of food. Why tip for someone handing you food over a counter.
