Re: Fort Meyers or south a bit in Feb advice please

cudavid, I didn't mean to imply there are no places to rent here. There are tons of places along the gulf from the lighthouse to almost Captiva. Not your typical one room with two beds and a bathroom though. Most are two bedrooms and one bath. Usually around 1000-1200 sqft. I must've looked at two d...

Re: Fort Meyers or south a bit in Feb advice please

I live here as well. I thought a hotel was simply an entity that rents multiple rooms. It doesn’t need a Holiday Inn sign to be a hotel.

Re: Fort Meyers or south a bit in Feb advice please

Sanibel Island. No hotels, just condos. Yes, there are many hotels on Sanibel. Gill You may call them hotels. We who live here don't. There are no buildings over 3 stories. No nationally named hotel that I know of since Holiday Inn sold two years ago. Most all of the condos are along east/middle/we...

Re: Fort Meyers or south a bit in Feb advice please

Sanibel Island. It's about 40 mins from the Ft Myers airport. Lots of good restaurants and shopping. Ding Darling wildlife preserve. No hotels, just condos. Mostly on the beach. Easy to get around on foot or bicycle. Weather in Feb is usually pretty nice. Not much night life for the younger crowd. T...

Re: Do You Tip At Counter Service Restaurants?

I've never encountered a touch-screen payment system at a restaurant but I wouldn't leave a tip in that situation. I only tip with cash and only to the person I want to have it. I wouldn't trust that the workers are getting that money. I tip at the counter for carry-out.

Re: U.S. stocks continue to soar!

Any idea why VTSAX (Vanguard Total Market) fell 0.5% today while the S&P 500 fell only 0.07% and checking most of the mid caps funds were down 0.3% or so, small caps were slightly up. I was thinking an aggregate of all those asset classes would result in almost a flat outcome. Bonds were the only t...

Re: Name something you had to have and now you regret purchasing it?

I don't still own it but buying a 34ft cabin cruiser was the biggest mistake I ever made. My wife will never let me forget that one. I now own a 24ft tri-toon. Last boat.
