Ask any attorney or title company who closed on a cashiers check from Countrywide in the three days before it failed. Cashiers checks still have to clear. A wire is collected funds the moment it hits the account. Those attorneys had to cover the losses from their trust account or get disbarred. Lot ...

If you spend $100k on the basement it will add no more than $45k to the FMV unless you live in a scorching hot real estate market.

Also $3000 will be in a taxable brokerage account. Thanks for the advice.

Just opened Roth

Have $5500 for Roth plus another $3000 for investment. 35 and plan to do the same annually. Would like to put into one fund for Roth and slightly different index fund for $3000. Any suggestions?
