Let me add more context. My wife and I work in software and biotech, two highly volatile sectors. 1/4 of our income is explicitly tied to the stock price of our companies in the form of RSUs. In general, I am on board with Bogleheads’ general admonition not to pick sectors. 1) In general, you do not have to save for a house down payment. 2) If you have to save for a house down payment, you probably buying too much house.
