Re: Which bond fund to pick?

I personally couldn't stomach paying those kinds of fees for a bond fund (esp at current rates). Is there a cheap money market fund available with lower fees to do a Buffet style 90/10 split with for rebalancing only? Because of fee's I'm 100% Vanguard Target Date or if not available lowest-cost S&...

Re: Which bond fund to pick?

Hi Bogleheads, I am 50 years old and have had a 100% allocation to VFIAX in my my company traditional IRA for most of this bull market. I am considering moving to a 75/30 allocation. My fixed income choices in my plan are not very appealing. My concerns are not just the expense ratios but the lack ...

Re: Which bond fund to pick?

According to this, the stable value fund has a forward yield of 2.23%, so I think I would go with that over the expensive bond fund. It's still not a great investment, however. https://www.putnam.com/literature/pdf/DC974-989dcb9a232d03ec309a136f0acd5bca.pdf Holdings: https://www.putnam.com/literatu...

Re: Which bond fund to pick?

Thanks for the reply,

Sorry, i was thinking of something else as i was typing. I meant to say company 401k.

I have also thought about using TD funds in the plan to get my desired bond allocation but the available funds all have higher expense ratios (>115 basis points).

I am sorry that your mom was scammed into buying Whole Life insurance. Such a horrible product. She should cancel and take the money to enjoy or pass down to her family if she wishes.
Thanks Nate79!! I appreciate your advice.

Should my mom keep her Life Insurance Policy?

Hi Bogleheads. I am reaching out for some advice for my mom. In the past 5 years or so I have been helping my mom manage her finances. She has always been a good saver and has always lived within her means but has not always gotten good financial advice. My mom is 74 years old this year and is singl...
