If you just let your money market dollars stay in the settlement fund of your brokerage account, which quite literally IS the Vanguard Federal Money Market Fund (VMFXX), you should actually see a reduction of number of funds as listed in your account. So are you saying 1) move all my Fed MM mutual fund - to my Fed MM Settlement fund? 2) Then close the Fed MM Mutual fund? 3) Then for simplicity sake, I would have only one Money Market fund, and it would be in the Settlement fund? If I am correct, is the settlement MM fund exactly the same in terms of it returns, structure, etc? I'm curious what the elements that are different between the two. There must be some difference or they wouldn't allow you to have them in 2 places (in the same IRA)...

I didn't know that (or not in that level of detail). Thanks! But I agree the iPhone 5 was easy if you can follow basic directions, except actually removing the original battery, (which was affixed with some pretty strong adhesive or adhesive tape on the inside).

I haven't changed anything outwardly in 15+ years. Except I bought an equivalent model new car when my old one became untenable at about 300,000 miles. It now has several cosmetic dings that I haven't fixed. No one has any reason to be jealous of me.

I think if Vanguard labeled them as ROTH IRAs, that would likely be sufficient to start multiple threads and pan the UI, so I say go for it!

I don't have the answer, but mutual funds settle quickly, and you can sell and send the redemption proceeds to a linked checking account in one step, rather than waiting for settlement and then requesting a separate ACH transfer. I'm going to say 3 days.

This is one reason why I don't spread out HSA contributions. I front-load them and hit the annual limit exactly in 1 or 2 payment cycles and then set it to zero for the rest of the year. I don't want to play payroll games any more than I have to.

Maxing the 401(k) without missing any company match is the most work. Every time I figure it out, the company changes something. Used to be able to front-load without missing company match on the back half. Now I can't. Used to get paid 13 times a year, now 26 times. Delayed expected inflation adjustment to compensation by 2 months due to general economic uncertainty after I already had everything mapped out for 2023. Oh well. First World problems!

Do you think these bonds were really all pre-printed, or is it just that they haven't changed the design series since the Tim Geithner days? Perhaps like banknotes they cannot change without an official process and security overhaul?

My understanding was that they (Treasury) had finally used up their stockpile of small denominations (which resulted in many of us getting 12 separate paper bonds last year)... and are now sending out "large bills only." That leads me to believe that once the stockpile of blanks diminishes overall, the Form 8888 paper bond program may be discontinued. They are certainly not printing new ones; my 03/2023 $5000 I-Bond has Timothy Geithner's signature. Mr. Geithner hasn't been Treasury Secretary since early 2013. I've read all these theories before, but if they wanted to eliminate the paper bonds, wouldn't destroying the printed but unissued bonds be by far the cheaper way to go? I didn't hit $5000 this year and could only do $4250, but I did notice that they did it with the fewest possible bonds (6) versus last year when I got $3000 spread across 10 bonds instead of the most practical -- 3.

Jethro Mobile appears to be a MVNO on the T-Mobile network. There are lots of MVNO's with low-cost service out there. $100/yr with no data sounds ok, but that's what I pay with data (1gb a month). I think you can find a better deal if you don't need/want data, but you'll have to shop around. I don't know anything specific about Jethro Mobile, but the customer service from the MVNO's usually isn't great - if you don't have any problems and don't need customer service, that's fine. Comprehensive and collision insurance is not legally required. You can choose liability only which shouldn't be elevated for EVs, I wouldn't think. Then just don't have an accident that's your fault.

I have the same situation at T. Rowe Price. In most views, the balances seem commingled, but there is one place I can go on the website to see the breakdown by the different buckets, and like the OP I have several based on changes made to my 401(k) plan rules over time (like before and after it became a Safe Harbor type plan). I have chosen not to worry about it and to deal with it at the time of eventual rollover. It's clear enough that they are accounting behind the scenes and have the necessary breakdowns, though I would of course welcome additional transparency and resolution. I would not personally select different investments for the different buckets if given the option, so that's not much of a consideration for me.

Glad you got it. No, Vanguard Mutual Fund Accounts is for people who are still on the old mutual fund only platform.

Have you tried it with both the origin and the recipient account numbers? I don't recall which one is to be used.
