The S&P 1500 index consists of:
S&P 500 (big)
S&P 400 (mid)
S&P 600 (small)

So I would say that Morningstar’s previous numbers were incorrect, as there is no way the mid-cap index ever had 20% micro-caps, which are below even S&P’s 600 index.
