Re: Schwab - U.S. ETFs and ETNs restrictions as of September 19

Thanks for sharing! Is there an option to be treated as PRO investor to have access to US ETFs? Similar to IB. Also does Schwab offer access to non-US stock exchanges where you can buy e.g. VWRL or IWDA. As I understood from their website Schwab One International only allows to buy US products. Othe...

Re: Selling A Car

I got 21k estimate from Carmax in January 2018.
Sold the car in August 2018 using Shift for 23k.
I would not buy from Shift as I've seen how they advertised my car :D but I would definitely use them for the next sale.

Re: Walk away from my auto lease?

Heck I am not even sure what is actually broken besides the clutch. There is a chance you just hit a crappy dealer but this is one of those stories where you have a feeling the other side might be interesting to hear. Most dealers are more than willing to do repairs if they think they will get paid...

Re: Walk away from my auto lease?

There are many unknowns here but let’s also view this from dealership pov: Dealer sold performance car. Buyer returned with a burned clutch or (as another assumption) failed transmission because he instead of 1st gear inserted reverse while downshifting. Why should dealer repair it for free? Just be...

Re: Walk away from my auto lease?

I have MT Boxster right now and had another 2 MT cars in the past. I probably on the dealer’s side here (with current input) as I don’t see how it can be possible that you purchased “normal” car but after 5000 miles clutch burned without your “help”. If you didn’t abuse car then probably you don’t k...

Re: Can one own a Porsche 911 that is not a money pit?

I had 2012 Boxster 987.2 bought in 2016 with 45k miles for 3 years. Replaced it with 2013 Boxster 981 few months ago. Also 45k miles. 987 had two minor issues: cracked coil and sensor failure. It cost about $800 to fix both at indy shop. No issues with 981 so far (prev owner also didn’t have a singl...

Re: Can you buy a new car with a cashiers check without unfreezing a credit freeze?

I purchased cars always using only cashiers check. Both times dealers required SSN saying that this is for Patriot Act and it’s not optional and both times I’ve shown them this article. After reading it they no longer asked for SSN. Main idea is that there must be verification for any purchase more ...

Re: Do tax accountants add any value?

Tax accountants are well known for making mistakes. There is no expectation that one's accountant does not make mistakes. Do you think contractors don't make mistakes? That is not an example that I would have used. :) This. Last year I prepared taxes myself but decided still to go to CPA. When I ca...

Re: I want a new Audi A6 2018 (50k) - Can I afford it? Or is this just a really dumb decision...

About a year ago I bought 2015 Audi A6 2.0 Quattro with 1 year warranty left (1 owner, non-cpo, after lease). It had 44k highway miles, new tires, Audi Care coverage for one more visit and looked like new. I have original sticker that shows 55k MSRP and I bought it just for 23k before tax. Right aft...
