Re: Newlyweds and joint accounts for household expenses

This is a way too personal question and completely depends on the couple. I never made my checking account joint with my wife that I pay all the bills out of. However, she doesn't care to know anything about finances....she doesn't know who Dow Jones is. :D She kept her bank account that she has a ...

Re: Amazon third-party item received damaged. No recourse?

Amazon has gotten REALLY bad with fake reviews and scummy third party vendors. I only buy brand-name stuff direct from them these days. It is SO bad, and most people don't realize it. I own a company that sells on amazon, and it's difficult to compete because of all the fake reviews (I don't engage...

Re: How do YOU buy a car? (TrueCar, Costco, Carvana, etc)

Sure, if you have the time. At $250/hr, I’m not putting more than a few hours I to this process. It doesn't take long to fire off some emails and do some internet browsing. Vehicles are only the second biggest purchases people make in their lifetime next to housing. Price aside, don't you want to d...

Re: How do YOU buy a car? (TrueCar, Costco, Carvana, etc)

DON'T do X Plan, Supplier Pricing, Costco, True Car or anything similar. Dealers WILL price lower than those programs and services. Cast a very wide net. When I custom ordered, I emailed 26 different general managers for the best price. When I leased, I drove 4 hours out for delivery. All negotiatio...

Re: Did you investigate your partner's financial background before committing?

I knew her financial situation better than she did prior to committing. I found myself a fixer-upper. :) In the grand scheme of things some credit card charge-offs, $10k of student loan delinquincies, and a negative bank account were trivial things and very easily fixable. Literally had her deposit ...

Re: Satellite radio pricing ridiculousness

It's $5 a month for Sirius XM. If you're paying more than that, you're the problem. For 6 months...Then it's $15.99 a month. (according to their website) I pay more than $5 a month, so just call me "The Problem" I’ve had the service since 2012 across multiple radios and vehicles continuou...
