Re: Steelcase Gesture: Headrest? Other Models? (Office Chair)

I bought a Steelcase Gesture last month. It replaced an old Steelcase chair which dates from the 1970s that I bought used sometime in the early 1990s. It worked pretty well for a couple of hours at a time but it was causing back pain now that I've been sitting in it for 8-10 hours a day while workin...

Re: Questions for anyone with HSA Bank (for employer HDHP) w/ TD Ameritrade for HSA brokerage.

My HSA is with HSA Bank and I'm investing everything I can using the linked TD Ameritrade account. I don't have any other TDA accounts so I cannot tell you if you can see multiple accounts from one login. However, there is an option to "Link Accounts" which is under the "My Profile&qu...

Re: Vanguard account in trust name

Does any one know if the brokerage platform allows mutual funds and accounts to be held in a trust name? Yes. My FIL has a trust brokerage account at Vanguard. Regards, Thanks. So if you have several different accounts (taxable, IRA, Roth etc) you can hold any or all of them in a trust? Yes. His IR...

Re: Help for 21 year old sister

I would add that there isn't a need to close the brokerage account. She can leave a minimal (or even $0) balance and leave it open for the future. It is also a good place to stash her emergency fund.

Re: Help with Router & WiFi Extender Setup for large area: Help Please.

I agree with what others have said about mesh networks. We have a Google WiFi with three access points and it works great. We no longer have issues about connectivity anywhere in our house. I wanted to hardwire all of the access points to increase speed. We asked an electrician to run some ethernet...

Re: Leave my beneficiary 100/75/50/25 or 0% of my pension?

I'd take the 100% pension since it's guaranteed and is an easy way to protect against the risk that you pass long before you make your actuarial expected lifespan. I'm assuming this is a government entity of some type so no risk. If I didn't take the 100%, I'd go for the 75%. This makes sense to me...

Re: trip to Greece (Athens and vicinity)

We spent three weeks in Greece in the summer of 2017. It was very hot (as over 100 degrees F). Our absolute favorite site was Olympia. We had about 15 minutes alone in the Olympic stadium as there were few other tourists out that day. I'll never forget doing laps there (back and forth, unlike the mo...

H&R Block Tax Software Frustrations

Hello, I'd used Turbo Tax for many years until their shenanigan with Schedule C no longer being included in TT Deluxe in 2014 when I switched to using H&R Block Tax Software. H&R Block has been less than ideal. For example, we got a bill from the IRS in 2018 because my 2016 8606 wasn't corre...

Re: Joining finances - what's easiest?

We're firm believers in sharing everything. Both paychecks go into a joint checking from which everything is paid automatically. This includes credit cards, utilities, mortgage, and investments. We track expenses in Quicken. Each of us has a "discretionary" fund we can use for whatever we ...

My wife, daughter, and I spent three weeks in Scandinavia in 2014. It was a great trip. We really enjoyed Oslo, Flam, and Bergen in Norway. We spent three nights in Copenhagen and it was at least two too many. The city is nice but it just didn't compare with the others. We were frankly bored and re...
