[Sector ETF - Your Opinion please]

Hi, BH. Except for index etf, I hold sector ETF. I'll tell the reason why I hold sector ETF. I hold XLE(Oil sector etf), SMH(Semiconductor etf) and CQQQ(Chinese IT) XLE: oil sector stocks are so cheap valuation, but in order to avoid the company-related accident risk( like BP) ,I'm holding XLE. I'm g...

Re: What websites do you use for the latest investing news?

Well , I always see cnbc & investing.com( through iphone app) I read latest investing news only for my interest and I'll try to avoid emotional trading by the news. I think just reading investing news is only waste of time, and in some cases worsen my portfolio performance. so I try not to affect my...

Re: VNQI (Global ex-US Real Estate): Is this a bargain or not?

Yes I think reits and ex-is stocks are undervalued
But I don’t know when these index or etfs outperform the us counterparts

Now my allocation weights eafe other than us index but I wonder whether this decision is correct or not

Re: Why brokers don’t support auto invest ETF, but can do it with dividends.

Japanese online discount broker sbi securities support it.
In japan, we can purchase US etf periodically and automatically.
But don't support dividend reinvestment.

I don't know why US broker don't support auto invest ETF.

Re: Currency Hedging in order not to affect currency fluctuations

You can either buy a fund that hedges to yen, or you can roll your own currency hedging using futures. The first is easier and would be worth paying a somewhat higher ER for. I am not familiar with Japanese funds so I don't know if there is a good option available. yeah, in japan there's mutual fun...

Re: Currency Hedging in order not to affect currency fluctuations

Yeah, I know. Japanese investors are awful. Remember the failure of Long Term Credit Bank? I met many who worked there before it went under and heard how all the employees invested everything in the company where they worked. Just devastated. There are surely good Japanese investors too but as you ...

Re: Currency Hedging in order not to affect currency fluctuations

If I were a Japanese investor, I wouldn't be 100% US assets. I would try to target 50% yen, 50% USD (or 50% yen, 30% USD 20% other). It doesn't make any sense to hold hedged USD bonds (as the return will be the same as unhedged Japanese ones for a Japanese investor). So I would hold fixed income in...

Currency Hedging in order not to affect currency fluctuations

I'm japanese individual investor and most of my asset is ETF in US market. In 2008, the yen goes higher for risk averse market 20% and my asset lost another 20% during the market crush. In order not to affect currency fluctuations, currency hedging is the only way. Do foreign(not US) institutional i...

But I can't find the advise like
Ignore wall street news
Ignore market movement

Do you think is it worthwhile to watch cnbc or read barron's?
Do these media try to pursuade me to buy hot stocks or bitcoin?

How to avoid temptation to buy hot stocks or bitcoin?

I have 20 years experience of investing. In 2000, I can't avoid temptation to buy hot IT stocks. And I learned that buying hot stocks always leads to a disaster. But history repeats itself. Many speuators(not investors) lose money by buying hot bitcoin. How to avoid temptation to buy hot stocks or b...
