Re: Looking for alternative to Vanguard

The bolded part is absolutely worth hammering home here about Fidelity's 2FA reset process. In order to enroll with the Symantic VIP 2FA on your Fidelity account, voice verification enrollment is mandatory . That is why you can reset it with a phone call, because your second factor is now your voic...

Re: Looking for alternative to Vanguard

I looked at some others like Fidelity and I don't really like their options. They require Symantec VIP for 2FA (much rather use traditional tokens like Authy). Saw reports of various companies that use Symantec VIP that just allow you to call to reset your account in case you lost the device the Sy...

Re: Looking for alternative to Vanguard

Most sites let you reset your account via email. Most email accounts can be reset via SMS, which brings us full circle back to where we started. Use secure e-mail (like Google mail with Google Authenticator 2FA soft token) and secure SMS (like Google voice phone number with no text/voice forwarding...

Re: Merrill Edge is Going Commission-Free

Brokerage churning has a higher ROI. More $$$ for less work. Unfortunately Merrill tries to make it as much extra work as possible by requiring Medallion guarantee to transfer funds out. Such a hassle. Especially with limited time offers like TD Ameritrade just recently. I transferred funds out fro...

Re: How many are switching from Fidelity?

I see multiple responses mention 2% cashback credit card. If you like that then you would love Bank of America’s 2.625% card. Need 100K+ in assets at Merrill to qualify for highest tier.

Re: E-Trade Sold VUSXX @ $0.99998

I use Fidelity... here’s what they say on the matter... “Sell orders are subject to an activity assessment fee (from $0.01 to $0.03 per $1,000 of principal).” So for a 100k sale, you could be charged 1-3 dollars. I also use Fidelity and nothing like this happens for MM funds. I use FDLXX at Fidelit...

Re: E-Trade Sold VUSXX @ $0.99998

E-Trade chat representative also stated it is SEC fee but I don't believe them. When I inquired how to view it he said the transaction has to settle. Checked my February trade and trade confirmation states: Quantity 1.17, Price $1.00, Principal $1.17, Net Amount $1.17. The mysterious missing penny o...

E-Trade Sold VUSXX @ $0.99998

I think E-Trade is doing something shady. I sold 100,000.00 units of VUSXX today and proceeds are only $99,998.00. In transaction details commission is shown as 0.00 as expected. In Gains/Losses it shows realized gain -$2.00 (loss). I also have an earlier transaction from February that I did not not...

Re: The Final, Definitive Thread on Brokerage Transfer Bonuses

New bonus alert. $200 for 25k at Chase You Invest. I'm thinking transferring 25K and buying 13-week Treasury Bills to fulfill 90 days requirement. Brokerage account transfer fee (even partial) is $75. I'd like to avoid that. I don't see any fees if cash is transferred out and account closed. Their ...
