Re: Best way to simulate the retirement, living off investments ; Not touching monthly salaries

Others have said this, but to me the simple thing would be to simply take your salary and limit the spending to 4% (or whatever your SW) of reducing value of your investments on a monthly basis so you simulate the constraint which will help with the mindset.
That way you avoid Capital taxes.

Thanks all of you for input. To a question earlier, we will be around working(hopefully still :| ) from home. OP:
Long shot... do you know if whatever the scammers ordered with the first card has shipped already? If not AMZN should be able put a hold or cancel those orders..
in my case my orders from March are yet to be shipped because they were not considered Essentials. I would assume they are not Prime.

I “invest” to an AA but do not “rebalance” the outcomes. So every dime I invest follows my AA but I don’t react to whatever happens after that.

Btw OP thanks for posing this question. I have been wondering the same every time there was a rebalancing question on this forum

One another option is to park the next 10-15 years of expense in cash and put the remaining in a target index fund. That way you are buying time while allowing you to hedge the timeline , recession and other risks that you may be worried about?

Are the out of pocket maximum same for both the plans? Typically they are many times higher in the HDHP.
If you don’t feel like you will be needing medical care all the way to maximums then the HSA model is better because of reasons stated by others already.
