Sandtrap, Here is a ~$200 solution for your 200 yard gate camera. Just one option, search long range point to point Wifi for lots more options. I would have to get one that has the unlimited mileage option for the distances I will be driving each week, but I will follow your advice and stick to the major brands. More $$ upfront means less #@&t afterward if anything goes wrong with the vehicle, IMHO.

Leave the dog outside while you are at work. Put in the doggie door from the backyard door to the garage so he has somewhere to curl up to sleep, get out of the wind, rain, etc. Did it with several dogs over the years, no problems.

A few thousand cash in small bills to pay for whatever we can find. A gasoline generator for the fridge and comfort lights. Many gallons of good water, refreshed every few months. Some dry/canned foods. Guns and ammo to protect all of that from those that chose not to make suitable preparations.
