Re: Theory of Economics book recommendation desired

My bachelor's is also in Econ, but with a minor in history.

A few recommendations, for what they're worth:

1. Economics in One Lesson - Henry Hazlitt
2. Basic Economics - Thomas Sowell
3. Economics Explained - Robert Heilbroner

Re: purchasing new furnace tips

I second the Costco recommendation. I had a service company out to look at mine, and they indicated it would be $1400 to maintain my existing, 20 year old furnace. They gave a quick and dirty estimate of $4400 to replace it. Home Depot came out to take a look and get a second opinion, and they said ...

George Sisti pays tribute to Mr. Bogle

I particularly enjoyed this line: "Whenever investment results seem too good to be true – assume fraud until genius is proven." http://www.oncoursefp.com/files/Vectors%20Feb%20...

Re: Netflix Recommendations

I just realized my login had been signed out and didn't see the notifications until today. Thanks for the Heartland recommendation, I just added it. The Big Lebowski is leaving Netflix today (I think), but I watched it again the other night. "This aggression will not stand, man." :happy For another ...

Re: Netflix Recommendations

I really enjoyed Babylon Berlin.

The "Big Lebowski" is back on there (for now).

Conan O'Brien's "Conan without Borders" is enjoyable.

This past weekend I watched Train to Busan, which is a good Korean zombie flick.

The White Helmets is a good documentary about rescue workers in Syria.

Re: Are You Dumping Netflix?

I'm not dumping Netflix, but will be dropping HBO after Game of Thrones ends. I simply don't watch it enough outside of that to justify keeping it. All of their shows are eventually on Amazon, anyway. We get HBO for the duration of GoT and then cancel it again every year. Do that for Veep, too. Goo...

Re: What is your allocation to U.S. and International?

I'm a third each in total domestic equity, total international, and total bond. They are Blackrock, but don't have any tickers that I can post. It's basically Scott Burns Margarita portfolio, or the 3-Fund Boglehead portfolio. This is after a lot of tinkering with slice and dice that just got to be ...

Good afternoon. I'm new to the forum (as of today), and thought you'd like to know that Scott Burns is back online at:
