529 reinvestment button

Am I able to turn off the reinvestment button on my daughters 529 account and have gains directed to my checking account as they are earned? Much like I do with one of my taxable accounts? If so, would they 1099R me for those dividends? Or do I truly need to sell some to get anything out?

Sounds like a reliable path now. I would act early before these funds enter their year end distributions. Don't need to buy the dividends.

Check out the Holiday Inn Express and Suites Fishermans Wharf. Incredible room, view, price, awesome free breakfast and primo location. capital gains timing.

It appears or income for 2019 will remain in the 12% federal bracket. This also leaves room for us to take about 10K in mutual fund capital gains from a taxable account for the year at 0%. This is a high cost, high er and high turnover account. We plan to do this. My question is does it really matte...

Re: [Can my children claim SS benefits if I continue working?]

I claimed SS at age 62 and had two minor children at home. Both collect SS benefits and will until they turn 18 or are no longer in High School. I continued to work part time and was well aware of my SS earnings limit as to not affect either of our benefits.

One current long standing taxable account is now ready to begin funding our daughters college educations over the next 5-7 years. Currently 100K sitting in a 50/50 AA portfolio. Capital gains are ready for the picking and our tax situation will keep us at 0% tax on those gains. Knowing we will need ...

Our family toured with a small adoption group on a return trip for our teenage daughters. Began in Beijing with normal tourist stuff (GW and TS) but gravitated to smaller neig...

Re: New 2019 RAV4 is now out - looks good

Love all of the comments here. I am a fan of the the new RAV but just today got my May edition of Consumer Reports and on page 60 they are very critical of it and say the model "missed the mark" . Noisy engine, rough gear shifts, stiff ride, high ground clearance and lower roof make for difficult en...

I currently have a 403b with Aspire invested with a Target Date fund MFS Lifetime 2030 Fund R3 (ticker MLTHX). It is a 4 star Morningstar fund that shows a net expense ratio of 0.24. This also shows up in their annual report of 4/30/2018. Their prospectus of 8/28/2018 however shows 0.85 and that is ...

Rick, just to be clear. The account began at 55K but is now 95K. Still PV shows 7 years of growth in a three fund index Vanguard at about $105K. So where is my 10 K? Yep, exactly.

I have used the past weeks to move investments within IRA's , Roth's, 529's , rollover IRA and one small taxable, all into Vanguard mindset of a three fund portfolio. It is working well. I now realize that my current 403b's with Ameriprise and Valic were wrapped in a pretty paper called variable annuities. As a young teacher I had no clue what this meant. Re: When taking Social Security @62 could be wise

I decided to retire and began drawing SS at age 62. I also began drawing my pension. My guiding factor was the fact that I still had two minor children at home ages 11 and 9. As I collected my monthly SS benefit, they each collected a tax free monthly SS benefit that totaled about the same as mine. ...

We can feel the quality of our Speed Queen set. Flawless operation, built like a tank. Just grab the stainless steel agitator and move it around. Now try this on some big box plastic piece. No comparison. Well worth the extra money.
