Re: Beta Vanguard APP

I spoke with vanguard today. The person I spoke to knew nothing about vanguard beta testing software. I immediately deleted all the emails related to the invitation I received from test flight.

Turbo or not to turbo that is the question

Rumor has it that most people will not qualify to itemize this year. How do I determine if I should shell the $$$ for software or just plan on using the free online filing?

Got the same invitation. Wondered the same thing.
You try it first and let me know :D
Not a chance. I don't click on email links, and I don't do any kind of beta testing for any product.
Mr UpperNwGuy you know I was just joking... right? I don't click on any email either. :happy

Re: First grandchild

My grandson is 18 month old this month. On his first birthday I put $365 in to a brokerage account, (That is $1 per day for the mathematically challenged). It is most likely not as smart as opening a 529 but I don't like being locked into the rules. I plan to do this every year until he is 26, then ...

Re: I can't take this anymore=) I'm selling stocks and buying bonds!

There is always another person on the other side of a trade. Right? So while one person feels like it is time to get sell the other person thinks it is time to buy. Why do people see the same information yet come to different conclusions? I guess If I knew that I would have gold carpets. :D I do fee...

What? I'm a Vanguard Owner?

I don't understand. Could someone kindly explain in a simple way, how I am a part owner of Vanguard just because I have opened a Vanguard account and purchased one or more of their products? And, what difference it makes for me? Here is a quote from the internet: "The company is owned by its funds. ...

Re: 401k Help. They are removing index funds.

Ask if you can be appointed to the trustee committee. I did and I can now influence our choices. Also, google Brightscope, it is like Glassdoor for retirement programs. You can see where your companies plan stands in comparison to like companies.

Re: Help - Expect to inherit relatively large sum

There may be one thing worse that not inheriting a large sum and that may well be inheriting a large sum. I agree, pay your loans, then find a cause and give it all away. Or use it to give your talents away to the world and work for free. That may just be the way that money can buy happyness.

Social Security as a percentage of portfolio

Question: When reviewing my portfolio shall I count my future estimated social security payments towards the percentage I need as cash? Not emergency cash. Shall I calculate 10, 15 or 20 years of payments into my total net worth? I'm 63. My mom died at 92 and my father died at 96. I know I could die...
