Re: IRS Sent me a check I am not expecting - what should I do?

Highly unlikely that this was the reason for the OP's large refund given the amount, but the IRS did issue interest payments to people who had a refund for 2019 taxes but filed after the 4/15 deadline (which was extended due to COVID). Re: New refrigerator

Anything but Samsung. Both my brother and I had Samsung refrigerators and had exact same issue with them freezing up and needing to be manually defrosted. Do a search...it’s a rampant problem that can’t be fixed. Both had to be replaced after less than 4 years. We both got Whirlpool replacements and...

Re: 2020 Highlander - any owners

I wouldn't buy a first model year after a major change. I have a 2014 Highlander that had a bunch of problems that were corrected in 2015 and 2016. I'm not making that mistake again. I got a 2014 in may of 2013 way early in the build cycle and haven't had an issue...YMMV Glad to hear yours has been...

Re: Getting a new Toyota Highlander.....

I will never buy the first model year of a major refresh ever again. I have a 2014 Highlander that I purchased new, and it hasn't been good. -All 4 door lock actuators went bad one by one over a year period. -rear trailing arms have been replaced twice, and are starting to sound bad again. -moonroof...

Re: Toyota Highlander vs Subaru Ascent--Advice

My 2014 Highlander has been pretty frustrating. I do think most of my issues are due to it being the first model year of a new body style. I've had the following issues: Front right strut replaced Rear trailing arms replaced twice All four door lock actuators replaced (failed one by one over a year...

Re: Which Volvo

My fiancé has an 2012 XC60 and it's been OK...not great. We recently had to replace the catalytic converter and it's now burning oil. It's her second Volvo and the previous one also needed the catalytic converter replaced. I've had many different vehicles through the years and never had to replace o...

Re: Toyota Extended Warranty

I purchased an 8 year/120K extended warranty for my 2014 Toyota Highlander. It's the Platinum level one from Toyota. It was $1,495 and I aggressively shopped different dealers to get that price. I'm not usually an extended warranty person but wanted to mitigate the risk of the first model year of a ...

Re: French Door Refrigerator Recommendations?

I have to also say NOT Samsung. They have a major design flaw that causes it to freeze up and need defrosting. Mine went 3 years before exhibiting problem and then has needed it twice in six months. I also know three other people who have Samsung refrigerators with the same problem. Google searches...

Re: New Fridge?

Whatever you do....avoid Samsung appliances. I didn't do my research and when my 3 year old Samsung refrigerator starting having problems I went online to check for a fix. Holy smokes....Samsung has massive problems and they are doing nothing to help their customers. These refrigerators have a desig...

Re: My 2017 CRV is a victim of the dreaded oil gas-dilution issue

The info I have taken away from this thread is I wouldn't trust Honda. IMHO, Honda doesn't have a real fix, and must believe there will be long-term issues with the affected engines. If they believed there wouldn't be long-term problems, I would think they would simply lengthen the warrantee and ca...

Re: highlander platinum

I have a 2014 Highlander Limited Platinum which I purchased new. I really like the vehicle but I've had too many issues. 1. Had to replace all 4 door lock actuators due to failure. They all failed starting in in 2017 within 18 months of each other, which was outside of the original factory warranty....

Re: Is it ever worth purchasing an extended warranty for a vehicle?

Normally I never buy extended warranties for the reasons many already said. It's a profit source for the seller. That said, I did buy a Toyota Extended Warranty to 8 Years/125,000 miles on a new 2014 Toyota Highlander as it was the first model year of a significant design change. I paid $1,495 for t...

Re: My 2017 CRV is a victim of the dreaded oil gas-dilution issue

The new 2019 Toyota RAV4 looks very good compared to the CRV. I can't see people wanting to take a risk on buying the CRV with the RAV4 being so well positioned. Honda better get a solid and verified fix to what is happening, or they will see their CRV sales dry up.

Re: My 2017 CRV is a victim of the dreaded oil gas-dilution issue

This latest news about Honda doing cold weather states first just means they are unsure about the fix. This isn't good at all.

I'm really glad I passed on buying the 2018 CRV.

Re: Considering new Honda Pilot, other suggestions?

I have a 2014 Toyota Highlander Limited Platinum AWD that I purchased new, and it's been extremely disappointing from a repair standpoint. I've had all four door lock actuators fail (~$400 each), rear control arms replaced twice (first time under original warranty; second time ~$700), and a leaky su...

Re: My 2017 CRV is a victim of the dreaded oil gas-dilution issue

I've been keeping an eye on this issue for several months. It has stopped me from buying a 2018 Honda CRV. I'm keeping my current vehicle for now, and am currently leaning towards the new Toyota RAV4 when it comes out. I'm not sure I'll buy one of those immediately though as I've dealt with several ...
