We got our 2014 Winnebago Trend with only 21k miles for $52k. Getting an equivalent travel trailer and vehicle large enough to tow it would have cost us at least $70k.
The cost of even used trucks these days boggles my mind. We just saw a small 2014 Nissan 4x4 pickup for sale for $26k. That's an 8 year old truck, and it can't tow much!

If you change $15k worth of 529 from your name to your kid's right now, that's your limit for the year. It's a gift just like handing them a check.

Re: 529 for K-12
Looks like you'll need to pay OR income tax on the amount. From a quick look the "no K-12" rule appears to apply to all 529s, not just the Oregon 529. I am not sure I understand this, are you saying, no 529 allows withdrawals for paying K-12 tuition fees ? I don’t think it is correct, check out UTAH plan, it does allow withdrawals for K-12 expenses. It is State Specific, some states allow to use the money for K-12, and some others don't. In the states that disallow (like Oregon), you end up having to pay back any state tax savings you already claimed. With the fidelity account no state tax savings were claimed. The reason for the two accounts is fidelity is tied to the 2% rebate card and we also front loaded it a bit. Thanks for ...

Re: 529 for K-12
Our son is enrolled in private school with tuition being around 20k per year. We have two 529 accounts, one is the Oregon plan which does not allow funds to be used for K-12. The other is the Fidelity plan which does allow up to 10k per year for private K-12 tuition, My question is would the use of the Fidelity plan for K-12 be impacted in any way being a Oregon resident? I have searched online but have been unable to find much about this specific situation. I may be overthinking this but does state law supersede what’s allowed with other state plans? I am thinking about pulling the 10k out and then purchasing Ibonds annually with those funds. Thanks for any insight! Wouldn’t you want your contributions to gain in value first ? If you want...

Re: Health equity investment fee. High or low?
I think that the big question is whether doing a transfer is worth saving $120/year. I think it is, although this sizable reduction in fees from HE is still welcome. So we can transfer as many times as we want during the year? Yep. No fees on either end. Besides no fees with Fidelity's HSA, you also get the advantage of a far broader array of investment options, including some that are very low cost, than what HE provides. Can the funds stay invested as they are until the transfer date? I have the Fidelity paperwork for the transfer, just unclear on if they pull from investments or the required 2000 cash account only. Thanks so much Willthrill81! I'm not sure what HE would do, but I suspect that they will pull from the investments first si...

Re: Health equity investment fee. High or low?
I logged into my HE account today and saw that they are lowering the investment fee to 0.03% monthly and capping it at $10 per month. In other words, you hit the cap at $33,333 of investments. Must be in response to all of the people transferring out to Fidelity. That makes it much more reasonable for people who have accumulated large balances. I suppose it's still $120/yr more than it should be, but low enough that it might be worth it to not have to deal with periodic transfers. Anyone else have any opinions about this reduction in fees? I have a large chunk waiting to be invested and am not sure if I should transfer to Fido or just keep it at HEealthEquity. I think that the big question is whether doing a transfer is worth saving $120/y...
