Starting Strength and/or The Barbell Prescription.

Re: Cheap Cell Phone Plan

I've been happy with Red Pocket, which lets you choose any of the four carriers. $5/mo for the minimum plan, if you buy a year: https://www.ebay.com/itm/133058476404 Mint Mobile (T-Mobile only) is a good choice if you need more data. I just started with Red Pocket, and it looks like it will work ou...

You can more than afford it, OP.
Stop listening to anonymous killjoys on the internet and do what YOU want to do for once.

Re: Advisability of Using a Personal Trainer at the Gym

I also recommend Starting Strength. A good introduction would be the book The Barbell Prescription by Dr. Jonathan Sullivan. Based on what I've seen personal trainers do with clients at my gym, they have you doing silly, easy exercises that will waste your time and money. I just turned 61 today, and...

Re: Byline Bank for CDs?

When my dad died last year, I discovered that he and my mom had five CDs at Byline. I wanted to keep them there, so I went to the bank with the trust documents to make me the Trustee for both their accounts. I was met by the branch manager, who proceeded to help me in the most efficient manner out o...

Re: Thoughts on the new Maxima?

If you buy and hold vehicles (and the fact that you’re driving a 2007 says that you do), then I think it’s important to let emotions play a sizable role in your decision. You clearly love the Maxima, so don’t let strangers on the internet tell you that you shouldn’t drive what you love for the next...

Re: The Coming Retirement Crisis - Real Vision

I did watch it about two weeks ago, by co-incidence.
When I found out it was on a channel that also hosts other conservative kooks (redundant?), I took everything he said with a grain of salt, at best.

The End of Indexing?

I was wondering of anyone here had read, and has opinions about a new book, called The End of Indexing by Niels Jensen. Because I'm lazy, here's the synopsis from Amazon: "Index-tracking is the flavour of the day - it accounts for around one-third of the total US mutual fund market, and is still gro...

Perhaps something to consider before the purchase:

Of course, this won't happen to YOU  (or me), but it might be worth evaluating.

When to buy some form of US bonds?

Is now a good time to buy some form of US bonds, or would it be better to wait until later this year/early next year, in light of the Fed announcement that there are further rate increases coming?
