I would pick one mutual fund and get them started. I did a similar thing with my kids, turned out to be a great thing for them. I would go HY savings account, and do quarterly transfer into local bank checking account for daily living expenses. HY’s right now are still north of 1%, safe and readily available for cash.

Just retired a month ago, 4/1 to be exact, Turning 59 soon. Worked most of my career for large publicly traded companies, was 21 years with the last one.
