Re: John Bogle has died at age 89

Much more than a iconic investor. A great American and a model citizen. Thank you, Mr. Bogle.

Re: How exactly does Vanguard's RMD service work? Rebalancing?

Yes, I believe I went thru the RMD service set-up screen when I first opened the Vanguard account. At that time, I had no taxable account, just the IRAs. Now that I’ve set up the taxable account, I’m surprised I can’t edit that option.

Re: How exactly does Vanguard's RMD service work? Rebalancing?

I moved our IRAs from another firm to Vanguard this year. I’m 99% sure the old firm sent us distribution checks this year representing our RMDs (even though we didn’t ask) before porting our money to Vanguard. So our next RMDs are in 2019. Re: IRA Converted Into a Variable Annuity - Can I get surrender charges waived?

Thanks Stinky. Yes, it wouldn’t be a big time investment for my part with a huge upside. My mother doesn’t really want the hassle and always just “wants to look forward.” I know there are lawyers who handle annuity cases, not sure if it is worthwhile to get one involved. We also were “friends” with ...

IRA Converted Into a Variable Annuity - Can I get surrender charges waived?

[Moved into a stand-alone thread from: IRA Converted Into a Variable Annuity (2008) --admin LadyGeek] Hi Pearl, A similar thing happened to my mom a few years ago. I was able to get her surrender fee waived and transferred her entire balance to Vanguard doing the following: 1. Write a letter of com...
