Re: Anyone use windows arm?

I did use a Surface Pro X SQ1 last year. The build quality was excellent, the performance and battery life on Windows 11 was fine. I did find it wasn't as snappy as a newer Intel or AMD based laptop. I replaced it with a Chromebook for the increased stand by battery life. I'm looking forward to see what the Snapdragon X can do.

Re: Lost Interest in Dream Car?

OP here. In a bizarre turn of events, after echoing others here that a Miata might be a good choice, I scanned the local classifieds and one popped up at the right price, color (highland green over tan leather), 6sp manual, exhaust, intake, etc. The guy selling it was 20 years older than me! So, it's in the garage now. I like the advice that if I don't use it, I can sell it later without major financial damage. The car came with extensive suspension mods and other enthusiast upgrades suitable for track use. It will not be used as a freeway cruiser or winter car, but drives like a race cart. 40mph in this thing feels like 70mph in a normal car. I like it and am pretty sure I will get $10k out of enjoyment out of it. I have owned newer cars ...

Hi jplee3,

I was going to suggest you post in one of the Mazda specific forums, but I believe you have on 247. You've done all I would've done at this point. I'd just drive the car and see if the error comes up again.

If you have the spare time then I'd just swap the coils around, then replace the faulty one. If you continue to have issues I'd then replace the rest along with the plugs.

Re: Fama and French: The Five-Factor Model Revisited

I have a huge problem with factor advocates, or anyone, saying a) that you have to be prepared to commit for decades to some strategy, while b) changing the strategy a couple of times a decade. First, "Quality" is not one of the five Fama-French factors, which are "market," "size," "value," "profitability," and "investment." Second, the constant changes in the story tell us is that financial researchers do not know when they have enough data to make actionable predictions. This is accompanied by rhetorical maneuvers that walk back claims in subtle ways. And, of course, to be fair, it is not exactly the same people making the initial claims as the people saying later "we never...

Re: Tire rotation pattern question

Both, cars may have different tire sizes in the front or rear. Tires can be directional or non-directional which affect which way the tires may be rotated. Since you bough the tires a Costco I'd just have them rotate the tires just so there is no issue if the tires ever need to be warrantied. I bought tires for my parents cars from Costco (Michelin) and they always wanted proof that the tires were rotated every so often (10k miles iirc) for the tire warranty.

Before the Allen Edmonds I'd spend around $100 per year for Black Dress shoes. I got my moneys worth. They're much more comfortable than $100 ones I'd used to buy. I do take care of them though. I always use a shoe tree and polish them once in awhile.
Resoling and new heels were free?
My apologies for the late reply. The heels cost around $20 and a new sole was $75.

Re: Post your Financial Milestone Announcements Here

Hello Bogleheads! It has been a long road to get to this day but yesterday I officially hit the 2 comma club! I have not shared the news with anyone but wanted to share a bit of my story here. I also wanted to say a massive Thank You to everyone on this thread as I have gained so much knowledge and inspiration and hope my journey can in some small way help pay it forward. I am a 38 yrs old and grew up in a lower, middle class family and was the first one in my family to go to college. When I graduated high school, I remember getting college acceptance letters with the full realization that my parents had been unable to save anything for my college education. I decided on attending an in state, private college that was affordable. What my s...

Moneta wrote: Mon Aug 27, 2018 4:08 pm My recent milestone was that my retirement account crested over twice my age in thousands. I am 43, and I've been fighting to get to twice-my-age-in-thousands for many years (low paying job with no 401k match, HCOL area, kids!).

A career change to a position that pays 30% more meant that I was finally able to make this goal.

I'm looking forward to meeting my next milestone of $100K in my retirement accounts.

2002 BMW M5 with 144k miles. Although not high mileage when compared to a Honda or Toyota for a 17 year old BMW it's getting up there. Still drives and looks great. Comfy, probably the best daily I've ever had. Just go back from a 1200 mile trip driving the roads in LA. The car did well.

Re: Do people still use AAA?

I've had AAA for the past 15 years or so. I've used them on average around twice per year. These past few years its been more like 3-4 times per year. If you need service near the center of a major city you will most likely get an actual AAA tow truck. If it's further out you may get a contractor tow truck. I have the service with a 100 mile tow. It's saved me quite a bit of money over the years and I don't regret paying for it.
