Re: Ideas for Nashville trip?

I just went to Nashville for New Years eve and had a blast. If your daughter likes country music she'll probably want to check out some of the recently opened restaurants by Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Jason Aldean etc. We checked them all out and were presently surprised. They were all well r...

Re: Who's flying?

I flew twice last week. All was smooth as ever. Unfortunately I've learned to take most of what the media is peddling with a grain of salt.

Re: Any downside to moving 457b account to Vanguard ?

Krow,
Keeping some and rolling the rest into a Vanguard IRA may make the most sense for me.

jgt808,
Wow, 3.2% for your Prud. Stable Value fund is substantially better than mine. I just checked and mine is showing (10/01/18 - 12/31/18 2.29%).

Thanks

Re: Any downside to moving 457b account to Vanguard ?

Retire2022,
How does the NY. exemption of state taxes up to 20K work?

Chevca,
I'm 55. Wasn't planning on taking withdrawals from the account for awhile but it's good to know you lose the penalty free option.

Thank you for the responses.

Any downside to moving 457b account to Vanguard ?

I'm a recent retiree with about $650,000 in my 457 account with Prudential. Not a horrible plan but it lacks an International index option. Only International option is American Funds Europacific Growth and Oppenheimer Developing Markets Fund. I would prefer rolling it over to Vanguard with my exist...

Re: Penalty Free CD

Thanks Rob. I am eligible . I just thought I might be missing something. I'm not familiar with Penalty Free CD's. I don't see a lot of additional information regarding this offer online. I'll have to get further information when they open on Monday. https://www.mynefcu.org/everyday-banking/certifica...

Penalty Free CD

NEFCU is offering a penalty free 18 month CD for 2.75% . Would this be a better option for cash/emergency fund than VG Prime? Any downside to penalty free CD's?

Re: The Three-Fund Portfolio

I'm confused regarding the difference in tax implications for ETF's vs. mutual funds in a taxable account. In the above linked article that Taylor referenced by The Wall Street Physician he states, "Remember that you should use ETFs instead of index funds in a Fidelity taxable account because of the...
